Well, kids, here it is…. The best of gekko.org…. I can remember the day that Bret and I decided on the name gekko.org. I was so excited. Finally, he and I were going to escape the clutches of Geocities. We were going to be something. I remember when I sent the check to Internet Solutions I was so proud, and then, we were off.
Gekko has become more than just a hobby, but a medium. It’s my own personal canvas on which I can display my arts. My thoughts, comments, my soul all onto the great marketplace of the Internet. I remember when we got our first comments about the site, and how it was really cool and funny, and then I knew I had made the right decision.
If I were to issue any special thanks, it would have to be Richard Zygler of boringguys.com. His generous tactic of putting a link to our page on his made gekko.org really kick off. It was sad tp see the boringguys expire, but I have a feeling they will return and all will be well within the universe. But until then, please enjoy gekko.org as a brethren of boringguys. Also, I must thank all hardcore Gekko fans out there, in particular, Elliott Bates…
Several things have been responsible for the Gekko to catch on like it has. First, I must say that a cam in the basement was the best buy Bret ever made. It’s unfortunate that Bret is the only you see most the time, but it still rules. Hopefully, the other gurus and I will be able to follow Bret’s lead and get cams. Secondly, I must say that the addition of other members to the Gekko Team have really improved the site. It was hard for Bret and I to conceptualize everything. That’s when we invited Rich to the team, and later Josh. Finally, our mundane adventures through life have really helped the site and its content. Many have asked us if we utilize controlled substances, and the answer is NO. We are just naturally odd.
Gekko has truly become a way of life for me. Whenever I feel crappy, I go onto the site, visit SCROBE, and laugh my ass off. I fumble through the POD archives and try to remember the source of all the crazy stuff we have found. It is a great way to feel better.
Also, Wednesday nights at 9:30 p.m, EST the Gekko Gurus have a cyber-meeting to decide on next week’s theme, and try and remedy any complaints which have been made. If you wish to attend this, just join the Gekko Chat…
